Sweet, sweet summertime

Flaming summer heat is blasting north Texas; soooo there is no better time to hit the pool. We have only been in this house for about eighteen months and are in the final stages of landscaping the yard. New trees dot the backyard, but the searing heat is vying for their lives. Randy and I take turns watering until either the heat lets up or the trees take root (probably this fall). All of this is to say that we are loving the country life. Actually where we live, we are just a bunch of city folks who have brought our city ways into the country/suburbs. The land revives my spirit. I love to work in the gardens, yes, pull weeds, get my fingernails dirty, and sweat. In the evenings we sit on the patio and view the land and all of its delights. The trees, flowers, shrubs echo the miracle of God's creation. I feel so blessed to be able to live the life that I have and partake of all of its blessings. The pool, the yard, the landscaping is only a backdrop for the times when family and friends come to visit. Without those times all that is here would ring hollow. The best times are when our daughters and sons in law and grandchildren are here. Laughter rings in the house and in the yard. No music is sweeter.
